About the Artist
I think a lot about our relationships with the natural world, and each other - and how these relationships are mediated by the social systems and collective identities in which we live.
Karla Houser is a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in Sociology. She is an accomplished painter, who also works in printmaking and collage. She has exhibited work in Toronto, Orillia, North Bay (Canada), and Osaka (Japan).
Visually, Houser has honed a distinct style of minimal realism. The work meditates on the human experience and psyche; the desire for connection and beauty, and the need for balance.
Both landscape and figurative paintings feature striking perspectives and signs of engagement - suggestive of history, movement, and potential.
