ABOUT THE ARTIST
“I think a lot about our relationships with the land we live on, the natural world and each other, and how these relationships are mediated by social systems, world views and technologies.”
Karla Houser is a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in sociology - an accomplished painter, who also works in printmaking, collage, and music.
The work meditates on ecological and social entanglement - identity, relationships and perspective.
Ontario-born, Houser is interested in the various geographies, ecosystems and inhabitants of Turtle Island - as well as the ongoing challenges these communities and ecosystems face.
